July Acoustic Concert

Troubled times often give birth to an outpouring of creative energy in the arts. The Great Depression and the suffering of America’s poor provided fodder for Woody Guthrie. The war in Viet Nam spawned folk and rock songs of protest from Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Peter Paul & Mary, Country Joe and the Fish and countless others.

Now some of Maine’s best songwriters from around the state are using their craft to illustrate and protest the inequities, injustices, and disturbing political trends of current times – and on July 17 you can hear their new "songs of social justice" in concert at the Winter Street Center in Bath.

Most of performers are long-time members of the Maine, and some are quite well known. They include Stan Davis, Scott Woodruff, Nancy Sferra, Linda Picceri, Peter Blachly, Sylvia Tavaras, Aimé Ducos, Gary Polhemusa, and Peter Carriveau.

Jud Caswell in Concert!

Winter Street Center Hosts Jud Caswell in Tribute to Jim Croce

The Winter Street Center in Bath is pleased to announce that Jud Caswell, one of Maine’s most respected and beloved singer-songwriters, will be performing an acoustic concert on Thursday, October 24 at 7:00 PM in the intimate setting of the center’s event hall.  Cry along with “Time in a Bottle” and “Operator (That’s Not the Way it Feels)” and stomp your feet to “Bad Bad Leroy Brown.” We’ll be visiting “Rapid Roy (The Stock Car Boy)” and the “Roller Derby Queen,” and flipping through our “Photographs & Memories.” Singing along isn’t required, but we’re not sure how you could know and love these tunes and not want to!

Jud is an award-winning songwriter and exceptionally fine multi-instrumentalist who has been performing in his native state of Maine and beyond for more than 25 years. In 2006 he made a splash on the national scene, winning the legendary Kerrville New Folk competition. He’s had his songs taught at Berklee, recorded by Judy Collins, and named “#4 Song of the Decade” by New York’s WFUV. His record “Live at the Seagull Shop” was the number 1 album on the Folk Alliance International radio charts in March of 2020. Jud is currently releasing a series of albums of music that he recorded during the early months of the pandemic.
