Second Floor - Great Room, Center. This space needs minor structural support improvements, insulation, the addition of a bathroom, and heat pumps. Estimated cost $150k. Please donate. The third floor will be a terrific location for an SPI volunteer office, a new home for complimentary non-profit offices and for smaller community conferences.
This are will require an updated sprinkler system, electrical service upgrade, truss enhancement, new curved drywall ceiling, and removal of platform. We have applied for a grant from the Maine Historic Preservation Commission, SPI will need $83k in matching funds. Is not time to fix this? Please donate.
Ground Floor Entrance - not to code -it needs handrails, kneewalls, interior landing, new interior steps, new exterior steps & lighting - donation dependent, estimate $45k.
Leaning pinnacle on steeple. The pinnacles will have to be removed and stored until we can afford to rebuild them. Estimated rebuild cost for each is $9k. The steeple is in excellent condition, it needs some paint and waterproofing, the big problem is the condition of the original pinnacle bases. The upper flames were fabricated in Woolwich and are in very good condition.

Our most visible preservation effort is the ongoing care of the Winter Street Center (WSC)—a cherished historic church that serves as both a community gathering space and a testament to Bath’s history. Thanks to the Winter Street Oversight Committee and vigilance of Joe Minott, WSC Steward, this landmark continues to shine.
What’s Next? - 2026 Goals
The Winter Street Oversight Committee is preparing plans to:
New sanctuary roof
Strengthen sanctuary roof trusses
Replace ceiling in the Sanctuary
Sanctuary electrical service upgrade
Improve accessibility for all visitors
Restore walkway lamp posts and exterior sconces
Steeple Pinnacle restoration
Each project depends on community support and available funding.
