Our Maine Songwriters and Musiciansseason Starts on January 22nd with two extraordinary guitarists, Sean Mencher and Al Giusto. Sean is nationally known for his mastery of Rockabilly, having performed with numerous bands, including Wayne Hancock, the Hadacol Bouncers, and his own Rockabilly Trio, High Noon, with whom he recorded a critically acclaimed album of the same name. Sean is a versatile guitarist, fluent in many styles. He will be joined on stage by his friend and fellow guitarist and composer, Al Giusto, a product of Berklee College of Music, and the New England Conservatory, and the Mannes College of Music who also sometimes performs under the playful alias, “Fat Knuckle Freddy.” His work has been performed at the Melbourne Festival and the Oslo Kammermusik Festival, and by the Flux Quartet in New York. Al’s recent album, “Soundscapes,” mixes classical, jazz, electronic, and other genres (even including Gregorian Chant) with studio effects on electric guitar to create a unique and “spiritual” listening experience.
